New Amsterdam Theatre

The New Amsterdam Theatre is a historic Broadway venue renowned for its rich history and architectural significance. Designed by architects Henry Herts and Hugh Tallant, the theatre opened on October 26, 1903, and was immediately hailed as one of New York City's most beautiful buildings. The interior features Art Nouveau design elements, including intricate plasterwork and murals, while the exterior showcases a Beaux-Arts facade. From 1913 to 1927, the theatre was home to the Ziegfeld Follies, a series of elaborate theatrical productions produced by Florenz Ziegfeld. After a period of decline and closure, The Walt Disney Company signed a 99-year lease on the New Amsterdam Theatre in 1993 and began a two-year restoration in partnership with the City of New York. The theatre reopened in 1997 and has since hosted several successful productions, contributing to its enduring legacy in New York City's vibrant theatre scene.
