Lena Horne Theatre

The Lena Horne Theatre, originally opened in 1926 as the Mansfield Theatre, is a historic Broadway venue designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp in a modern Spanish style. In 1960, it was renamed the Brooks Atkinson Theatre in honor of the esteemed New York Times theater critic. In 2022, the theatre was renamed again to honor the legendary entertainer and civil rights activist Lena Horne, becoming the first Broadway theatre named after a Black woman. With a seating capacity of approximately 1,069, the Lena Horne Theatre has hosted a diverse array of productions, contributing to its enduring legacy in New York City's vibrant theatre scene.
