The Vivian Beaumont Theater, located within the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, opened to the public on October 21, 1965. Designed by renowned architect Eero Saarinen, the theater was named in honor of philanthropist Vivian Beaumont Allen, who contributed significantly to its construction. The Beaumont is distinguished by its flexible stage design, allowing for both thrust and proscenium configurations, and is the only Broadway theater situated outside the traditional Theater District.
