About the show

About

The beloved story that defined a generation, reimagined as a groundbreaking new musical.
The winner of the Tony Award® for Best Musical is _The Outsiders_.
Adapted from S.E. Hinton's seminal novel and Francis Ford Coppola's iconic film, this thrilling new Broadway musical features a book by Adam Rapp with Justin Levine, music and lyrics by Jamestown Revival (Jonathan Clay & Zach Chance) and Justin Levine, music supervision, orchestration, and arrangements by Justin Levine, choreography by Rick Kuperman & Jeff Kuperman, and direction by Tony Award® winner Danya Taymor. The _New York Post_ calls it “The Best New Musical of the Season.”
In Tulsa, Oklahoma, 1967, Ponyboy Curtis, his best friend Johnny Cade and their Greaser family of ‘outsiders’ battle with their affluent rivals, the Socs. \_The Outsider\_s navigates the complexities of self-discovery as the Greasers dream about who they want to become in a world that may never accept them. With a dynamic original score, _The Outsiders_ is a story of friendship, family, belonging…and the realization that there is still “lots of good in the world.”

Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre

The Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre, originally known as the Royale Theatre, opened in 1927 as part of a three-theatre complex developed by the Chanin Brothers. Designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp, the theatre features a modern Spanish style, with a groin-vaulted ceiling and archways adorned with murals titled "Lovers of Spain" by Willy Pogany. In 1930, the Shubert Organization acquired the theatre, and during the Depression, it was briefly renamed the John Golden Theatre. The Shuberts regained control in 1936, restoring its original name. In 2005, the theatre was renamed to honor Bernard B. Jacobs, the Shubert Organization's president from 1972 to 1996. With a seating capacity of approximately 1,078, the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre continues to host a variety of acclaimed productions, contributing to its enduring legacy in Broadway history.
