Jon Rua is a choreographer, actor, singer, and choreographer on the fast-track to becoming a Broadway legend. In 2008, Jon made his Broadway debut in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Tony Award-winning hit In the Heights as a dancer and understudy for the starring role of Usnavi. In 2015, Jon was in the “room where it happened” as an original Broadway cast member of Hamilton, in which he originated the role of Charles Lee and helped develop the show’s iconic choreography. As such, Jon can also be seen about once a minute in Hamilton on Disney+! Jon has also been seen starring on Broadway as Patchy the Pirate in Spongebob Squarepants: The Musical and Jesus Pena in Hands on a Hardbody. Jon has served as the Co-Creative Director/Choreographer of the sold out 2019 Madison Square Garden NYE PHISH concert, and continues to innovate movement on stage & screen. He is the Co-Choreographer for individual production numbers in Broadway’s The Cher Show, SpongeBob Squarepants, & SpongeBob Musical Live on Nick. Jon loves to connect to his fans through meet-and-greets, dance class, and Q&As. Don’t forget to ask him how he got his start in “the biz!”
