Fanny Brice in Funny Girl

Julie Benko

Julie Benko is “the greatest star,” marching her band out all across the Broadway stage as the standby for Fanny Brice in the revival of Funny Girl. The Broadway matchmakers have found many a perfect match for Julie, from understudying Hodel and Chava in Broadway’s Fiddler on the Roof, to playing Cosette in The 25th Anniversary of Les Miserables, to understudying Wendla and Ilse in the First National Tour of Spring Awakening. Julie is also the recipient of the Wilde Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical for her performance as Girl in Once, and won an Honorable Mention for her first short, The Newlywed’s Guide to Physical Intimacy, at New Faces New Voices Film Festival.

Julie is excited to connect with fans and theater lovers to share stories and experiences!
